Abby Zieverink

Growing up in a small town in northern Alberta, I was taught me the importance of community and the impact a supportive one has on individuals and families. My drive to always improve myself and my skill set continually allows me to grow in my career.

During my time at SAIT, I became extremely adaptive as I navigated through the move from in-person classes to online learning. Reporting throughout the pandemic strengthened my skills to use social media and technology to my advantage, producing industry-level content from home. 

 

Before becoming a journalist, I worked in long-term care for five years. The extensive experience I got working with seniors in their last stages of life are skills I still use to this day. I was able to learn a lot about different methods of communication with seniors and their family members, a front line understanding of the healthcare system, and knowledge of the challenges that came with working in long-term care during the height of the pandemic.
